Afro Black
From warmth mother's bosom I stand here
facing a world, staid against darken cast
And I stroll my street among sullen faces,
heaped upon from societal drunken flask
I stand here Afro Black.
Proudly unafraid, I am still here without
bound restrain and I cry no visual tear
My eyes ahead my quest beyond, even tho' the
yonder storm swirl to awaken fear
I'll walk on--ever Afro Black.
I'll never hide my dark colored face, never
alter my stride where fierce wind blow
Shielded in stronger armor, I am a fearless
warrior and ever my history know
the strength of Afro Black.
Didn't my father yet prevail from battle
against his foe in spite the bigot growl
Didn't my heritage survive at slavery, with
all our soul held beyond master foul
Then so still--I'll survive, ever Afro Black. |
