President Barack Obama
At The Awakening Dawn Of America
by
Forest Hairston

Suddenly, at the awakening dawn of America. This glinting day,
softly touch the hour and take us home again. Here at near this
autumn day, we tenderly caress a lonely child. Now while the
autumn recites from its memory. Suddenly Barack Obama has
touched the sky. Suddenly a little child can see far beyond the
day. Where the beautiful Michelle Obama, so elegantly walk
across the autumn. Barack Obama, ever replay the melody. And
while the young lovers strut on and on, across the hour. The
music will play a song for me, across the autumn day. And here
so clearly now, I can hear the melody, If We Dream.
Take my hand and walk with me, where love and freedom recite
this old history. Lead me there across my life. Lead me there
thru the shallow hour, and touch the day with me. Touch me 'til
I solve life's mystery. Gather me at there somewhere, across the
swollen sea. Touch me once more, where love has no end. If I
should fail, gather me here again, amid the autumn wind. Sing a
song for me across the day . . . and touch me 'til I hear the
music play . . . If We Dream. |
